Smells exactly like it is supposed to
I made sure to do my homework on this particular oil and from what I have gathered from other aromatherapist, sweet basil oil is supposed to smell licorice like and it should not smell like basil you buy or grow. I am very pleased with the oil and I encourage you to do your homework before purchasing. Not all essential oils are going to smell like you think it should or the herbs/flowers/etc. you are used to. Prime example is peppermint, food grade peppermint smell like candy however peppermint essential oil should have a minty herbaceous smell which they have. Just like the herb, use a little to season
I quite like the distinctness of this oil. It does smell surprisingly licorice like on the front, but with a definite basil/herb smell at the end. As said by a prior reviewer this is an essential oil, so things will smell a little different. I would not recommend using this alone, but one drop mixed with four or five other oils really does add a nice touch. Peculiar...
This smells of Basil, yes... But more like licorice basil. It is very herbacious indeed. It smells like basil, if that's what you like, but the hint of licorice is also there.
